Process Journal 1

My strengths of being an IB learner are being a thinker and communicating with people. My 3 goals to improve upon are getting good grades, becoming a better swimmer, and learning about all my new subjects. I would love to improve in science and math.

Process Journal 2

In this class period, I what is deciding upon what my project should be about. At first, I thought about Elon Musk and tesla's batteries with renewable energy and stepping towards less pollution in the future. My second option was going to be about how to detect fake news versus real news. I ended up with neither of those options. I decided to talk about how teens don't get enough sleep and what we can do to help teens get better scores on tests and be better motivated to learn. I talked with miss Durham about it because I was confused about what I needed to do. I had to have friends help me because after talking with miss Durham I was still confused, and they guided me through what I needed to do and what miss Durham was talking about. After I finally understood what I did and what I wanted to do my project on, I had to think of the global context it was in and the full topic I was doing my project on. I think I settled on a pretty broad topic, but I'll do my best to narrow it down since this project will take over the entire school year. I have started to research the number of sleep teens should get versus what teams get now, and I'm going to try to make a poll about / asking teens how much sleep they get to see what the average amount of sleep is.

Process Journal 3

I would say that I have done decent work on my project so far. I am researching the negative effects that teens have depending on the amount of sleep they get, and I will start exploring how that sleep affects their mindset and grades. I am also going to be making a google poll on how much sleep teens get and how much homework/ activities they have in the evening. I will find a way to correlate those numbers. So far, I have only covered the negative effects that less sleep causes on teens, why teens have less sleep, and affects on teens cognitive/ functional ability. Teens are generally known for getting less sleep because once puberty hits their internal clock shifts back 2 hours. They now instead of falling asleep and 9:30 they would fall asleep and 11:30. This also means that teens will wake up 2 hours later therefor causing them to lose sleep. I talked about the things that teens have to do that causes them to stay up late. High school starting times are generally earlier then middle/elementary schools, so they have to wake up a lot earlier messing with them. Students have a lot of homework especially at Lamar and some teachers think that we have more time, but I would counter that and say we have less. At home while in online school, my mom would knock on my door and askes be to chores periodically throughout the day. I have to leave and do them and I think its less time for me to work. I also have sports and art. I covered generally that but more specifically.

On the 1st week of break, I did a little more research looking at articles and looking at other countries with different schedules for their school and looked at how it affected teens' sleep and grades. Germany had some crazy statistics where they only have four days of school, and students do better on tests and work. I think that The US education system should be very similar to that, and I think it would greatly benefit kids and the country's future.

Over Christmas break, I did not do much because I was celebrating the new year with the family but I studied for my tests when I got back to school and I could decide which website I should use to work on my final product which is on this website right here.

On the 1st week of January, after the new year started, I decided to choose wix.com as my website to make my final product on. I decided what font I should use and what kind of style I should choose that would be good-looking.

In the second week of January, I decided to design my website and what it would look like. I chose the color scheme, and I chose how the website would lay it out. I chose a teal and white color scheme, which I thought would look pretty nice looking and minimal.

For my process Journal 10, I actively added all my tabs four each separate thing for my product. I also you'd some presets like the menu preset and changed it where it set up there being food with ingredients listed there would be different parts of the menu for my objectives and the meals were each question asked for each piece of criterion/objective.

For my website, I decided to create different tabs and different pages to separate my objectives, separate my process journals, and separate my decision and changes that we should make into the public school system in the United States in my district HISD. I also wanted to add a separate page for my side resources in MLA format.

In process Journal 11, I wanted to add at the bottom a contact link to my email so people could email me about my website and so it would look like an actual website. I wanted it to be available to the IB people and to the MYP people and to my teacher because I would be submitting this to “managebac” and to the hub.

Four my 12 process Journal on this project, I decided 2 add a button that opens up peoples' emails to where they can send an email to me, and it automatically gets put into the email to be sent. I am not sure if this will work or not but I hope it will.

For my process Journal 13, I added started to add all of my content.

For my 14th process Journal, I worked on my home page. My homepage consists of a contact link, my name and what this website is about, and an about me page about me and my role at Lamar high school.

Process Journal 15

In this process Journal, I worked on the criterion and objectives on my website's second page. I sounded to do a layout where I could make each criterion a part of a menu which was a preset for this website. Each criterion was a different part of the menu like appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Each question on any criterion was a dish. The answer was the ingredients or the description of the dish/question.

Process Journal 16

In my 16th process Journal, I start work on this page, my process journals. I decided to do a layout where it's not the same thing repeatedly, and each process journal is in different separate boxes with different layouts to make it more appetizing.

Process Journal 17

For my process Journal 17, I decided to add a contact button at the websites where I missed adding the contact button to where you could just scroll down and see the contact button on whatever page you were on. I am also thinking of adding a part of the page to email me something by the website like questions or comments. I was also thinking of adding a comment function on another page.

In my process Journal 18, I was nearing the end of my final product. I started work on my research page, where I would talk about each separate point about why schools should start later and about the effect of a certain amount of sleep on teens.

In 19, I decided to change the photos on the research page, change the photos on the front page, and change the photos on every other page. I was nearing the end of my product.

Process Journal 20

I have finally finished my product. I have edited the URL to my website, so it was unique, and I have revised it to check if there were any spelling errors or any mistakes that I made on the way. On this journey after that, I submitted my website to manage back and my criterion to my English teacher.
